Access to press material under embargo for news agencies

News agencies can apply for access to the Commission’s press material under embargo. To be eligible, they must meet the following criteria:

  • They must be based in one of the Member States
  • They must be editorially independent and a commercial media organisation with no distribution restrictions
  • They must be transparent about their financing
  • They must provide coverage of the activities of the European Institutions

How to apply

News agencies requesting this service should send an email to COMM-SPP-EMBARGOatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (COMM-SPP-EMBARGO[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu), attaching:

  • A recent letter on headed paper or equivalent, signed by the editor-in-chief or director of the media organisation indicating the news agency’s name, headquarters’ address, phone number and generic email address of the organisation. This email address will be used to receive the material under embargo.
  • A declaration on SPP embargo conditions, signed by the news agency’s legal representative.
